ISLAMIC, Persia (Post-Seljuk). Ghurids (Bamiyan). Shams al-Din Muhammad, AH 558-588 / AD 1163-1192. Dirham (Bronze, 36 mm, 5.86 g, 3 h), mint and date off flan. Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Nasir li-din Allah (AH 575-622 / AD 1180-1225), ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh / al-Nāṣir li-dīn Allāh’ (‘Taji. There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. al-Nasir li-din Allah’ in Arabic); at the top, ‘Tājī’ which seems to refer to the type of the dirham. Rev. Citing the ruler as ‘al-Sulṭān al-Muʿẓẓam / Shams al-Dunyā wa / al-Dīn Abuʾl-Muẓaffar; at the top, ‘Muḥammad ibn’; at the bottom, ‘Masʿūd’; illegible mint and date formula around. Album -, cf. E1803.
